SEO: A guide to what you can expect from Webdadi and who is responsible for what?

So Webdadi have built you a brand new website and you're hoping to climb the Google rankings and be at #1 in no time. However, in order to understand how to achieve that goal, it's important to understand who's responsible for what elements of your website.

How best to describe SEO?

SEO (search engine optimisation) is the process of optimising your website to help it rank highly on Google for specific keyword search terms. However, there are many different tasks which constitute the entire process of search engine optimisation.

SEO can be compared to building a house. In order to build a great house, there are many elements needed and they are not all provided by one single supplier. A range of different tradespeople are required. From laying the foundations and building the walls, to adding the electrics, the plumbing and the fixtures & fittings, each requires a different supplier each with their own has specialities and responsibilities to ensure each element of your house is completed to the highest standard.

For your website's SEO to be the best it can be, it will rely on a host of different tasks. In order to work out who is responsible for what elements of your website's SEO, we have broken it down below for you:

Who is responsible for what?

Webdadi

  • We're responsible for building the architecture and foundations of your website. In essence, the base level coding of the website.

  • We'll setup the website to ensure it has all the elements it needs from a technical point of view. This includes ensuring every website page has a unique URL, window title and meta description, and ensuring key elements such as H1 header titles are present on the page

  • If you have purchased an Executive or Bespoke package website we'll additionally:

    • Setup 301 redirects from your old website to the new website

    • Optimise your content by making suggestions about your key window titles, H1 headers and the main body of text. It's important to note, we won't write your content, we'll simply edit and optimise the content you you provide us to ensure it has the relevant keywords and their contained in the key areas of the page

  • Our websites come with key features and settings built in than can help you target the keywords that would be important for your business

  • We give you access to our CMS software VIA from which you can edit and change your content to suit your SEO strategy once you go live

Other elements to consider which Webdadi isn't part of Webdadi's service offering

1) The word content of your website.

Content (or copy) is one of the most important elements in your SEO strategy, it's important your website pages contain relevant content that explains exactly what you do. For example, if you want to rank highly for the search term "estate agents in Fulham" it's important to use those words specifically on the relevant page.

This content needs to be applied appropriately across every element of the page, from the titles, the subtitles and the main body of text, through to the meta data of the page.

Our customers provide us the relevant content they want to appear on the website during the build. Whilst we can optimise and suggest amendments/alterations for those on our Executive and Bespoke packages, the fundamentals of what content to put on the page is provided by the customer during the build.

In addition, once the website has gone live, the customer is in control of the content of their website and are able to make changes and edits to their website through their VIA software. If changes to the content are enacted on the website which adversely affect your SEO ranking, this is entirely the customer's responsibility (or indeed any third parties making amendments to the website)

Consider: Asking Webdadi to carry out our SEO Optimisation service which can be done on a simple per page basis for a small charge to optimise your existing word content. Or, consider hiring an SEO copywriter to help write and optimise your content.

2) Blogging

Blogging is a great way to add fresh and new content to your website. However, whilst Webdadi may copy over old blog content to your website, we will not write or add new blogs to your website.

Webdadi provide you with a content management systems (CMS) called VIA which allows you to add your own blogs quickly and easily. However, writing and adding the articles to your website and ensuring the best practises are met is entirely the customer's responsibility (or any third party adding blogs to the website). You should employ someone who knows what they're doing and is aware of the best practises to optimise your blog article writing.
