A meta description should be added to every website page. It will be the text that appears underneath any Google listing for your website page, and plays a key role in SEO (search engine optimisation).

You can see the meta description below “We provide Estate Agents a website..” etc.

  • The meta description should be a maximum of 159 characters in length

  • The first 5 words of your meta description are the most important. They should be the relevant keywords you want to target

  • The meta description should contain key information about the page to describe it’s content so a user can decide if the website page is relevant to them

  • Remember - the meta description is essentially the wording of your Google listing. It is almost like an advert, so the content should be compelling and encourage users to click your website over other listings
