Uploading media to properties; what file formats are needed.
You can add/upload photographs, floor plans, EPCs and brochures to properties which display on the website and export to the property portals (if you have exports setup on your account)
How to upload media to a property
When adding or editing properties, click the Descriptions & Media quick link at the top of the tab, or simply scroll to the Media section
Either drag the files you want to upload into the grey box, or click the click here to upload message to trigger the document uploader
Media must not be larger than 2MB otherwise they will not be uploaded
In order for the correct media to display in the relevant section of the website, or for the media to be exported correctly to the property portals, you need to ensure the media is uploaded in the following file formats:
Pictures/Photographs - .jpg
These should be uploaded as .jpg files to ensure they display in the image viewer correctly on both the website and the property portals.
Any media uploaded as .jpgs will display in the image viewer of the website and property portals
Please note - images MUST be .jpg format NOT .jpeg. Although .jpeg is a similar file format, they will not work
Floor plans - .gif
Floor plans should be uploaded as a .gif file to ensure they display in the Floorplan section of the website and export correctly to the property portals.
You can also upload .jpg files, but the media must be labelled as floorplan or floor plan in order to display correctly on the website. Please note .jpg files labelled as floorplan or floor plan may not be recognised by the portals so we recommend always using the .gif format if possible as the labelling is only relevant to the website’s media display.
EPCS - .png
EPCs should be uploaded as a .png file to ensure they display in the EPC section of the website.
You can also upload .pdf files, but the media must be labelled as EPC or epc in order to display correctly on both the website and the property portals.
Brochures - .pdf
Brochures should be uploaded as a .pdf file. If no image name is given to them in the media uploader of VIA, the PDF will display in the EPC & Additional Documents section of the website.
If the PDF is labelled as brochure or Brochure it will create a new Brochure section of the website where the file can be accessed. This section of the website won't appear unless a .pdf specifically named as Brochure is added to the property.
In brief, and .pdf uploaded will appear in the EPCs & Additional Documents section of the website by default. However, by naming the .pdf Brochure or brochure it will create a specific Brochure section for the document. So you can choose which method you would prefer to display the .pdf files on a property by property basis.
