A window title sometimes known as the page title is displayed on every website page.

It appears in any tab of a browser window. If you hover over the tab, a pop up will appear revealing the full window title

A window title plays a key role is SEO (search engine optimisation).

  • Every page of your website should contain a unique window title. No page should have the same window title

  • The window title should be maximum 60 characters in length

  • The window title should contain key information about the page to describe what is on the website page. It should contain the relevant keywords you want to target

 

In addition, the window title is the text that will output on your Google listing. You can see below that the title of the Google listing matches exactly the window title of the page above.
